Why should I update my Shakepay security?

Go passwordless with passkeys on your Shakepay account to achieve the highest level of account security. Additionally, add a security selfie that is used to ensure it is always you on the account.

Passkeys are a secure and more convenient way to sign into your account. They use your FaceID or device biometrics (fingerprint, or device lock). Passkeys protect you from phishing attacks as they require you and your device to log in, meaning bad actors are not able to log in remotely.

What is a Passkey?

Passkeys are a new feature that enable secure logins to your accounts using biometrics like fingerprint, facial recognition, or a PIN. Once configured, you can even eliminate your password entirely.

By removing the password, you reduce the risk of accidentally or intentionally sharing information that could grant others access to your account.

Note: Not all devices are compatible with passkeys. Android support for passkeys is limited at this time. Physical FIDO security keys require a pin to be used as a passkey.

Enabling passkeys on mobile (iOS & Android)

  1. In the Shakepay app, click on on "Settings" (⚙️ icon)

  2. Click "Security & privacy"

  3. Select "Passkeys"

  4. Click "Add new passkey"

  5. Click "Create"

  6. Follow the passkey setup instructions as per your device’s settings

  7. Your new passkey is now setup!

Optional: Once you have a passkey set up, you can delete your password.

Deleting your Password

  1. In the Shakepay app, click on on "Settings" (⚙️ icon)

  2. Click "Security & privacy"

  3. Select "Passkeys"

  4. Click "Remove your password"

  5. Click "Confirm"

Deleting your passkey

  1. In the Shakepay app, click on on "Settings" (⚙️ icon)

  2. Click "Security & privacy"

  3. Click “Passkeys”

  4. Select the passkey and swipe left on it to delete it

  5. Click Delete

  6. Click “Remove passkey”

  7. Your passkey is now deleted!

I lost access to my passkey and I don’t have a password on my account

Follow these steps to reset your password when you are passwordless if you are still able to log in:

  1. Log into your Shakepay account using the mobile app

  2. Click the "Settings" (⚙️) icon at the bottom right of the app

  3. Click on "Help" and then select "Support chat"

  4. Our Customer Support Team will help you reset your passkeys or password and you will need to complete a verification selfie to ensure that you are the one trying to access your account!

What is a security selfie?

A security selfie is a facial verification method used by Shakepay to confirm that sensitive actions in the app are authorized by the actual account holder. It's a photo that customers take of themselves to verify their identity to take specific actions such as send a withdrawal or recover the account.

How do I set up a security selfie?

  1. In the Shakepay app, click on on "Settings" (⚙️ icon)

  2. Click "Security & privacy"

  3. Select "Security selfie"

  4. Click "Add new passkey"

  5. Click "Create"

  6. Follow the selfie instructions prompted

  7. Your security selfie is now setup!

How do I verify my security selfie?

A security selfie may be verified instantly, if it is not automatically verified you will see "We're reviewing your security selfie"

It is possible selfies are not automatically verified if they are blurry or don't properly capture your face. Verification may take up to 48 hours in this case.
