What is a Passkey?
Passkeys are a new feature that allow you to securely login to your accounts using biometrics such as: fingerprint, face authentication, or PIN unlock. Once set up, go a step further and remove your password from your account entirely.
Without a password, there’s no information to give out, accidentally or on purpose, that will allow others to access your account.
Note: Not all devices are compatible with passkeys. Android support for passkeys is limited at this time. Physical FIDO security keys require a pin to be used as a passkey.
Enabling passkeys on mobile (iOS & Android)
In the Shakepay app, enter the settings page by clicking the gear icon
Click ‘Security & privacy’
Select ‘Passkeys’
Click ‘Add new passkey’
Feel free to name your new passkey and then click ‘Create’
Follow the passkey setup instructions as per your device’s settings
All set! Log out and log back in to see for yourself just how easy it can be
Want to take it one step further?
Once you have a passkey set up, you can officially delete your password.
Deleting your Password
In the Shakepay app, enter the settings page by clicking the gear icon
Click ‘Security & privacy’
Select ‘Passkeys’
Click ‘Remove your password’
Click ‘Confirm’
Congratulations! Your account is now fully secured with passkeys.
I lost access to my passkey and I don’t have a password on my account
Getting back into your account is as simple as resetting your password using the ‘Forgot my password’ flow on the login page.
