This article explains how $0 spread works on bitcoin recurring buys and payroll-funded auto-buys, including when it starts and what’s included.

Updated this week

What does $0 spread on bitcoin scheduled buys mean?

$0 spread means for eligible bitcoin recurring buys and auto-buys, you are not charged the usual buy spread, so the price you pay does not include that extra cost.

Which assets are eligible for $0 spread included?

This applies only to bitcoin purchases with Canadian funds. ETH and USD, and purchases made with ETH or USD are not included.

When does the $0 spread apply?

After you set up a bitcoin recurring buy or auto-buy, regular spread will apply for the first 7 days. Starting on day 8, you’ll pay $0 spread on eligible scheduled buys.

How much can I buy with $0 spread?

You get $0 spread on bitcoin recurring buys and auto buys. There is no monthly cap, so all recurring buys and auto buys qualify for $0 spread.

Does this apply to auto-buys?

Yes. Bitcoin auto-buys funded by direct deposit can qualify for $0 spread, as long as the direct deposit arrives with the transaction type listed as “payroll.”

Only direct deposits coded as payroll will trigger the auto-buy. Other types of direct deposits will not activate it. The same 7 day waiting period applies.

Which recurring buy frequencies are supported?

$0 spread applies to bitcoin recurring buys set to daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Does this apply to one-time buys?

No. One-time buys are not included and will continue to use our regular spread.

Can I cancel or edit my recurring buy?

You can cancel your recurring buy at any time in the app. Recurring buys cannot be edited. If you’d like to change the amount or frequency, you’ll need to cancel your existing recurring buy and create a new one.

Payroll auto-buys are triggered automatically when a qualifying direct deposit marked as “payroll” arrives. You can turn off or edit the amount of your auto-buys in the app at any time.

If I cancel and set up a new recurring buy, will the 7-day waiting period apply again?

Yes. The 7-day waiting period starts when a recurring buy is created. Cancelling a recurring buy and setting up a new one will reset the waiting period. The same applies to payroll auto-buys.
