How to resolve a 412 error on an e-Transfer that has not yet been deposited

Updated over a week ago

If you receive a message from us saying we could not process your e-Transfer as quickly as usual, because it needs to be verified by your bank, it means that your sending bank has not yet verified the funds, and we will be unable to deposit the funds until they release them.

If your e-Transfer is showing a 412 error, please try these steps:

  1. Call your sending bank and ask to speak to the e-Transfer or fraud team, it helps to be specific asking to resolve your 412 error. Depending on your bank, you may be required to answer some questions to ensure the safety of your funds.

  2. Once the bank has released the funds, please send a reminder on the e-Transfer to have it updated and deposited to Shakepay.

Note: You can always cancel a pending e-Transfer in your online banking and the funds will be returned to you right away.
