How to enable Passkeys

Enable passkeys on your Shakepay account to achieve the highest level of account security.

What is a Passkey?

Passkeys are a new feature that allow you to securely login to your accounts using biometrics such as: fingerprint, face authentication, or PIN unlock. Once set up, go a step further and remove your password from your account entirely.

Without a password, there’s no information to give out, accidentally or on purpose, that will allow others to access your account.

Note: Not all devices are compatible with passkeys. Android support for passkeys is limited at this time. Physical FIDO security keys require a pin to be used as a passkey.


Enabling passkeys on mobile (iOS & Android)

  1. In the Shakepay app, enter the settings page by clicking the gear icon

  2. Click ‘Security & privacy’

  3. Select ‘Passkeys’

  4. Click ‘Add new passkey’

  5. Feel free to name your new passkey and then click ‘Create’

  6. Follow the passkey setup instructions as per your device’s settings

  7. All set! Log out and log back in to see for yourself just how easy it can be

Want to take it one step further?

Once you have a passkey set up, you can officially delete your password.


Deleting your Password

  1. In the Shakepay app, enter the settings page by clicking the gear icon

  2. Click ‘Security & privacy’

  3. Select ‘Passkeys’

  4. Click ‘Remove your password’

  5. Click ‘Confirm’

Congratulations! Your account is now fully secured with passkeys.


I lost access to my passkey and I don’t have a password on my account

Follow these steps to reset your password when you are passwordless if you are still able to log in:

  1. Open the Shakepay app and log in

  2. Click the Settings wheel at the bottom right.

  3. Click Help.

  4. Click Support Chat

  5. Select Talk to a person when prompted.

Our customer support team will help you reset your passkeys or password and you will need to send a selfie to do so.

Follow these steps to reset your password when you are passwordless if you are not able to log in:

  1. Click the blue bubble at the bottom of our help page.

  2. Click I can't log in.

  3. Follow the steps required.
