How to send an e-Transfer to my bank?

You will find the steps to send your cash balance from Shakepay to your bank account and how to cancel a pending e-Transfer withdrawal.

Here are the steps to send an e-Transfer to your bank account from your Shakepay account:

  1. Open the Shakepay app and log in.

  2. Make sure you have an available cash balance or sell some crypto you wish to cash out.

  3. Tap the “Send” button.

  4. Click on the "Interac e-Transfer" button ($10,000 max per transaction).

  5. Click your name at the top under Send to my bank.

  6. Input the amount you want to send via Interac e-transfer.

  7. Click Continue.

  8. Click Confirm.

Notes:

  • You will receive an Interac email that looks like the image below when your funds are ready to be deposited with your bank.

  • Funds will be deposited automatically if you have auto-deposit enabled.

  • It usually takes up to one hour to receive your e-Transfer withdrawal sent from Shakepay.

  • e-Transfer withdrawals to your bank are free.

To deposit the funds, you will need to enter your security answer.

If you’re looking to withdraw a larger amount, you can request a wire transfer withdrawal.


Troubleshooting and tips

Sell your crypto for CAD before withdrawing funds to your bank:

Before withdrawing funds to your bank you will need to make sure you have an available CAD balance or sell some of your available crypto for CAD.

Follow these steps to sell some of your crypto balance for Canadian dollars:

  1. Open the Shakepay app and log in.

  2. Click on the blue arrows at the bottom in the middle.

  3. Click Buy Bitcoin at the top and toggle to Sell Bitcoin (or Sell Ethereum).

  4. Input the amount of crypto you would like to sell for CAD.

  5. Click on Review order.

  6. Click on Sell bitcoin.


Where can I find my security answer?

Follow these steps to find and copy your security answer:

  1. Open the Shakepay app and log in.

  2. Click on Cash balance.

  3. Click on the e-Transfer you sent.

  4. You will see the security answer displayed and you will be able to copy it from there.


I sent an e-Transfer withdrawal to my bank but it hasn't arrived in my bank account

If you didn't receive your e-Transfer withdrawal or the email to deposit your e-Transfer in your bank account, please check the following:

  • Check your spam folder to see if the email is there.

  • Double-check if you are looking at the inbox associated to your Shakepay account.

  • Whitelist Interac's email address: [email protected] or add it as a safe sender in your email inbox.

  • Cancel the e-Transfer and send a new one.


How do I cancel an e-Transfer withdrawal?

Follow these steps to cancel your pending e-Transfer withdrawal in the Shakepay app:

  1. Open the Shakepay app and log in.

  2. Click on Cash balance.

  3. Click the e-Transfer withdrawal you need to cancel.

  4. Click the Cancel request button.

  5. Confirm by clicking the the Cancel request button in the pop up message. This will initiate a cancel request for your e-Transfer withdrawal transaction.

Note: You will receive an email once the e-Transfer transaction cancellation request has been processed and the funds will be credited back in your Shakepay account.


I sent an e-Transfer to my bank and the e-Transfer is stuck

If you sent an e-Transfer to your bank or to a friend or family member but it is stuck, try these steps:

  • Cancel the e-Transfer withdrawal and initiate a new one.

  • If you or your recipient have auto deposit for e-Transfer at the bank, sometimes, this can cause a longer delay and take up to a few hours to be received by the recipient.

  • If you are waiting longer than 24 hours, contact our support team and select e-Get Started>Transactions>Transfers>Talk to a person to get help from our support team.
