How to deposit funds from a Scotiabank account when you need to update your e-Transfer profile name

To update the e-Transfer profile nickname to your full legal name to match your Shakepay account please follow these instructions.

Scotiabank requires nickname changes to be completed on your desktop browser as the Scotiabank app doesn’t have this option.

  1. Sign in to Scotiabank Online Banking at

  2. Select ‘Transfers’ in the navigation bar on top

  3. Select ‘Interac e-Transfer®’

  4. Select ‘Send money’

  5. Under ‘Your details’, select ‘Update’

  6. Enter the new name, then select ‘Save’

Once completed, you need to send us a reminder on the e-Transfer for the changes to reflect and we'll have it deposited in no time.

To send a reminder from Scotiabank:

  1. Select ’Back” in the lower left

  2. Select ‘History & Pending’

  3. Select ‘Resend notification’ for the e-Transfer in question
