How can I update my mobile number or email address?

This article shows the steps to change the phone number or email address on your Shakepay account.

Heads up, you won’t be able to send money out from your account for 24 hours after changing your phone number or email address.


Updating phone number from the mobile app

Follow these steps to update your phone number in the app:

  1. Open the Shakepay app and sign in.

  2. Click the settings wheel at the bottom right of your screen

  3. Click Account settings.

  4. Click on Profile information.

  5. Tap the Change button next to your phone number.

  6. Enter your new phone number. Make sure it's a Canadian mobile number not a VoIP number.

  7. You'll just need to follow the steps and get your new phone number verified, all done!


Updating phone number from the website

Follow these steps to update your phone number on the website:

  1. Log in to your Shakepay account on the web with your shaketag (username) and password.

  2. Click the Profile page on the left side menu.

  3. Click Change phone number.

  4. Enter your new phone number. Make sure it's a Canadian mobile number not a VoIP number.

  5. Verify your phone number with the code received by SMS.

Updating email address from the mobile app

Follow these steps to update your email address in the app:

  1. Open the Shakepay app and sign in.

  2. Click the settings wheel at the bottom right of your screen

  3. Click Account settings.

  4. Click on Profile information.

  5. Tap the Change button next to your email address

  6. You'll just need to follow the steps and get your new email address verified, all done!


Updating email address from the website

Follow these steps to update your email address on the website:

  1. Log in to your Shakepay account on the web with your shaketag (username) and password.

  2. Click the Profile page on the left side menu.

  3. Click Change email address.

  4. Enter your new email address along with the password.

  5. Tap on the verify link in the email sent to your new email address to complete the switch.

To change your email address again after an initial update, you will need to submit a verification selfie and a valid government-issued ID through the Shakepay recovery portal. Ensure the ID is valid, unexpired, and clearly visible in the photo. Shakepay's support team will review and process your request accordingly. If you lose access to your email or cannot receive emails, visit Shakepay's recovery page. You will be required to upload a verification selfie, a photo of your government-issued ID (valid and fully visible), and follow the outlined recovery steps. Shakepay will finalize the update process after reviewing your submission.
